Title: are BT traffic shaping IDnet connections?
Post by: coreservers on Mar 21, 2010, 20:59:00
This is very strange.
I cant test teh BT speed tester at all, havent been able for 2 weeks or so. My connection apart from last weeks we problem has remained stable for that time at 6mb - ish but the past two nights I't's dropped at precisely 5pm to it's current 2.6-3mb!

router shows good snr (6db) and a sync rate at
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8582 kbps 996 kbps
Line Attenuation 36 db 9.5 db
Noise Margin 7 db 7 db

exchange (dalkeith) shows green for congestion.

Tried test socket makes no difference.

I would guess not traffic shaping but BT related exchange congestion. Idnet will know the your exchange capacity status more accurately than the exchange checker.

I'd agree. Steve. If it were a deliberate action, we'd have widespread reports.

Their off-peak pricing at £3 per unit for 100GB, made them one of the best value 20CN ISPs for heavy usage. Unsurprising it's not sustainable, hence the congestion and unit pricing changes from April onwards.
