Title: ADSL2 activated today, weird things
Post by: qweezy on Mar 05, 2010, 17:22:31
Hey,

I had ADSL2 activated today.

So far my speeds are about the same and i'm still getting loss of sync, but my attenuation has dropped from 50db to 42db!

Is this likely just the router getting a little confused?  My Noise Margins have been going up and down a lot too.

Things will be very 'flexible' for the next 10 days as the line tries to find its level. My attenuation actually went up, while others report a drop - I suspect it's the frequency at which the router calculates attenuation.

Oh, so much for me getting excited about less attenuation = more speeeeeeeed.

I presume it will level out pretty much the same speed as before.  My sync has actually dropped from 4000 to 3100.

Give it time, it will take a few days to settle. If it's slower than ADSL after that, IDNet can switch you back to ADSL1 modulation or, when BT launches the service, they can adjust your line characteristics manually. I've been on the trial for this and gained 1Mb from it.
