Hurray the millennium bug only 10 years late. >:D
Yippee! ;D
Mine is OK ;D
"If this is the reason, it will be embarrassing for Sony, though they should be able to solve the problem by releasing a 'patch'"
How do you send out a patch over the network, if the machines can't connect to it to get the update?
I wondered that.
Internet>PC and then usb stick. I would have thought.
How about if you don't have a PC? They have got to assume, that the only thing in the home with internet access, is the PS3.
Perhaps they assume you have a friend with a PC?
I bet the person who caused this bug is sh*tting it at the mo!
Japanese flagship companies are not having a good time right now, are they.
QuoteCiting unnamed "developers and studios", British site Develop say that the issue is affecting titles currently in production for the PlayStation 3, with debug consoles - used by developers to actually make games - thrown "into a rebooting cycle, due to an endlessly-looping error message".
If that's true then some games will be delayed and sony may get sued?
Well mines affected the date is 31/12/1999 is there a solution before I break it.
Not yet, it appears, Steve. I wonder if you could set your router date back a day?

QuoteUPDATE 6: Error code 8001050F was causes by a fault in the PS3's clock functionality, Sony tells Kotaku. A fix should be coming within 24 hours. Until then, stay off your console, they say. More details here. http://kotaku.com/5482811/
The current advice is to turn it off
I have a Phat version two years old almost, but its fine, 160GB version was not affected as it was one of the last builds of the original machine, I'm sure most people can burn a patch to a DVD, and since you really need a PC to download patches for the machine anyway most people should be fine, those that are not connected are missing out on game patches Firmware patches and the whole point of online gaming, but almost everyone knows someone with a pc these days, so its not a major issue I would think, maybe for those that cant get online Sony will send out a patch via CD as thats cheaper than USB stick or just take it to a sony centre.
Apparently by Sony doing nothing it should now be working again.

The internal clock on those affected units after midnight would have recognised it was not 29th Febuary and caught up with themselves, that's all, I'm sure Sony will patch that issues so it wont happen next year, just glad my unit was not affected :)
