Title: Thank goodness for FF Plugins
Post by: D-Dan on Feb 28, 2010, 07:54:28
Three in particular.

I was feeling a little under the weather last night, so went to bed early, which means I was up before 7am this morning. I decided that this early on a Sunday morning was a good time to clean out my computer, so fired up Revo uninstaller and started getting rid of old/unused software. For those that don't know, Revo cleans the registry and hard drive of any remaining bits after a standard uninstall.

In the installed programs were FF2, 3.5 and 3.6 beta, so they had to go since I'm using the latest. Uninstalling 3.5 was going well until I realised I'd just clicked "Yes" to clear all residual files, which included extensions, bookmarks, personalisations etc. Too late, Doh!.

I went the whole hog and removed all traces of all FF instances (after downloading the latest installer), then re-installed. Installed FEBE, Cleo and XMarks. 5 minutes later, my customisations, bookmarks, logins and passwords were all back in place. (I'm pretty glad I have XMarks set up to auto sync with the server).

All I can say is, "Phew" :)

You must have had that sudden hot feeling in the bowel when you realised you'd clicked 'Yes', Steve.  ;D  Glad it all worked out.  :)

I am pretty sure I had an unexpected bowel movement, but if there were any addons worth having, they are those :)
