what would you recommend for an external HD enclosure.had an ICY BOX one last year but the power cable died I think, sent it back to amazon got a full refund :) :), well done Amazon :thumb: but finding the same ones hard to come by so wondered if you had any other ideas.
I brought one of these in January Baz, it works fine so far. http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/532509/IOMEGA-3.5IN-1TB-HARD-DRIVE
thanks Glenn.sorry though should have explained myself better.its for my daughter who had an external drive about two years ago, think it was a Maxtor/WD cant remember now but anyway the switch broke so I bought an external enclosure and stuck the HD in there, now it wont turn on and I think its the power cable.its gone back to amazon now.so I have the HD and just need a decent enclosure to stick it in.its an IDE drive if that helps
The price of the portable 2.5in are reasonable at the moment around £50 for 320 Gb plus no additional power supply required

I'v had a mybook external HD for about 7 years no problem.
Also have a cheap Iomega from PC world that is doing great - had that about a year so far.
I don't move my HD's around too much though. If you want to use it like a giant USB memory stick then I would recommend the Western Digital ones as they are very solid as well as nice and compact. Bit pricier though.
I have two WD ones and they have never let me down. Both are 500gig and I move one of them around a lot as I have a media player connected to my TV.
