Hi all
I'm a proud new owner of an iPhone on Vodafone and so far I'm pretty happy with it. The only issue that's bugging me is that for some reason I can't send email via smtp.Idnet.com unless I'm connected to wireless. Anyone have any thoughts why I can't send via my Vodafone contract Internet?
All suggestions appreciated!
Mike
Mike,I think you may have to use Vodafone smtp servers.
Or do as I do and specify authentication type as password, entering your email's username and password and change the port to 587. :)
Thanks Lance, more info here (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,1838667,00.asp) I learn something everyday, shame I can't remember it.
Thanks all :-)
I'm going to try that in the morning.
Best wishes,
Mike

Me too - luckily I had my iphone to hand so could just take the settings off that.
I remember setting up smtp.idnet.com with 02 but don't remember changing any ports,in fact the phone must have done it automatically.A colleague at work had trouble on Vodafone with an alternative smtp server I'll ask if your still stuck as I believe he found a solution.

You can use your own mail servers and default ports on 02. well I do.
Orange & Vodafone are known for this, My friend is on orange broadband and they make him use the orange smtp!
I've actually just got an iphone through Vodafone and all that it did for me was pull all my email & contact info from my PC, onto the phone. The email has worked since. The only emails I get are invoices from IDnet though so it'll be a while before I can tell you if it's still working :D
