Title: router
Post by: sobranie on Feb 17, 2010, 17:10:21
How many times (approx) would I have to re-boot my router say in a 2 hour period, for BT to louse up the connection?

Am I correct in presuming that I can physically unplug my router and bt plug without bt registering it as a synch drop?

If I change routers during the unplugged from mains period does bt see this as a synch drop?

Sorry for all the????? . I have a pretty good idea of any probs resulting from tinkering but I have some questions to answer tonight and want to get my facts right.

Ta ever so

I believe it's 10/hour on Max, Rick, not sure on ADSL2+ though

Unplugging the mains from the router usually causes it to send a dying signal to the exchange so the DLM knows it is a shutdown and not instability.

Dying gasp is not necessarily implemented out of the box, even if the router is capable.  For example on some of the Draytek and Zyxel ranges, it has to be enabled via the command line.
