It seems if your stuck with one of these that's not working correctly Apple are offering a way out. It would appear that the spare screens are not available in Europe with a backlog of 230 machines .

Got to laugh at some of the comments over at ElReg. Apple compensates customers - generously by all accounts - and apparently it's 'hush money' and proof that Macs are no good. :shake:
I guess it proves that they are as fallible as anything else, but at least they seem to be doing something about it, and offering customers a little bit of compensation for the inconvenience. :)

Its been a luck of the draw, many 27" owners had no problems those comments make me laugh, oddly the 21.5" like mine has been relatively problem free, its just that huge panel, now considering Toyota's problems...well Apples pale into insignificance.
Actually there are issues with some 21.5" models as well it seems, like anything good and bad occurs, its LG I believe who supply the panels, I count myself lucky, also some Apple users are way uptight about stuff, Even giant TV screens are never perfect colour wise and the Huge apple monitors have had tints for years, its just loads of people staring looking for faults apart from the 27" tearing issue, hell if I looked hard enough on most of the stuff I buy it would all have gone back, nothing is perfect anymore, and never will be due to the sheer volume of production sadly. Samsungs LED backlight was meant to be the best ever and that's got screen uniformity issues on their TV's, Sony have Clouding and backlight bleed issues, a point has to be reached when you say, its good enough and then be happy with whats good about what you buy not whats bad, because the next one you swap to may be a lot worse.
If we spent our whole life picking up on things we would never buy. Most computers will have something we are not happy with but we have to get on with it. Macs will have faults that is the nature of the beast (computing not Macs) but it is no reason to slag them off. Sadly these faults should have been picked up in production but it just goes to show that Apple are the same as the rest of us. ;D

Thats the thing Den, I chose a mac because I wanted something different not because i thought it would be perfect, mines ok but any machine, any PC, TV Radio, Washing machine or cooker, you name it, if you look hard enough its all got something out of place, I look at my Mac and I enjoy it, my screens ok, my TV has some minor backlight bleed if I sit in the pitch black and look hard for it, but who watches TV in utter darkness with no input? In fact I think our washing machine may have a button that's not quite straight as well. ;D The problem is millions of these things come off production lines in China and how many are checked? Loads slip buy, a bit like some Toyota's and some Peugeot's accelerator peddles. Its the nature of mass marketing and new technology, or even old in some cases
