Title: IDnet overide DLM?

It's had its moments, Baz, but no worse than when Max was first introduced. IDNet will have much more control over the line than Max, being able to override DLM, effectively. For me, though, I have gone from a 2.5M profile to a 3.5M one, so am happy enough with that speed gain. Latency is down to 15ms from 24ms.

You can stay put and benefit from the greater bandwidth allowance, or be modulated at ADSL1, though still connected to the MSAN.

Rik,
Could you expand on your comment from the other thread, as support have always blamed BT's DLM for my connection speed and said there was nothing to be done. I'm on an ADSL2+ connection btw

i think they will shortly be afforded more control over a customers line...perhaps by being able to overide the noise margin.

it's a way off though going by the chats i've had with support recently.

It's probably the same thing that was on the AAISP blog.

Essentially, what Jonathan said, 4Way. The new system will allow ISPs to override some elements of DLM and set fixed parameters. It will be a juggling act to find what speed a line can achieve and remain stable, but it will stop the WBC DLM, which appears to operate on a hair trigger, from constantly changing margin etc. My line is in the trial, and it's worked well for me, bringing the target NM down from 12db to 6, without undue instability, eg about one resync every five days. The current trial requires IDNet to request BT to make the changes. When the system goes live, they will be able to do it directly.

The sooner the better as far as I am concerned.

I don't know of a 'live date' as yet, I do know the trial runs till the end of the month.
