Title: Migration Day
Post by: CathaysChild on Dec 09, 2009, 19:12:45
Hi everybody

My migration to IDNET was planned for today and this evening I was told by Support it was complete BUT ...

I can't log in via IDNET but still can via my OLD ISP ??

The strange thing is I think that the line HAS been upgraded to ADSL2 , as requested as part of the migration ,  because the router (NETGEAR DG834PN) stats show a big jump in the connection speed ( was previosuly about 3700 kbps )

ADSL Link             Downstream      Upstream
Connection Speed 5831 kbps         695 kbps
Line Attenuation   48.0 db             5.9 db
Noise Margin        9.4 db               6.3 db

When I try a IDNET login , having adjusted the DNS settings etc accordingly ,
I get server connection failures e.g

Connecting to Server : Failed
Negotiation              : LCP down
Authentication          : CHAP Authentication failed.

Thanks for any assitance.

:welc: CathaysChild :karma: It looks like something is not set up correctly to authenticate your details on a server, you are using the username & log in details that IDNet sent to you? Try them again, otherwise give support a call in the morning.

Hi Cathay and welcome to the forum. :welc: :karma:

What Glenn said, basically. Either BT haven't properly completed the migration or there seems to be an issue with your login details. If you retain connection to your old iSP overnight, then call in the morning, if you lose it call tonight. You shouldn't need to set up DNS btw, just tell the router to pick up the information automatically.

Thanks for the replies.

I am sure that I am using the correct login and pasword as I can access my account details etc on the IDNET site.

It does seem like the migration is only partially complete - I will contact support in the morning.

Regards

It wouldn't be the first time BT have screwed up a migration.  Hope it gets sorted for you soon.
