The online game I play (Lord of the Rings) is about to launch a new expansion and the 1g patch was made available a couple of days back via a torrent. Somebody thought it wold be fun to see who could seed the most - here in the UK we don't stand a chance! There have been a few people saying they have 100m/100m connections - some of them claim to have downloaded the patch in just a couple of minutes :eek4:
I can imagine piracy being a much bigger problem if everybody did have connections that quick!
Is the UK really that far behind? I remember reading of a report that placed us way down the list of average speeds - not even top 50 I think but I could be wrong on that.
Edit: Picture is smaller that I expected! For those who don't want to squint at it he is currently uploading at 7.0mb/s with an average of 4.3 mb/s and he managed to download the 1.01g file in just under 26 minutes - and I bet there weren't as many seeders then either, took me about 1/2 day to get the file!

We are still in the dark ages as far as the interweb goes. A friend of mine in California has FIOS and gets 50Meg download 20Meg upload speeds....dont you just hate that :rant2:
