Hi all,
I've just acquired a Buffalo WBMR-G54 ADSL2+ Wireless router and am having difficulty setting it up. Does anyone have experience of this model and the settings required to access Idnet?
I've tried running the 'wizard' via Buffalo's Internet configuration pages with no connection was obtained.
I've tried manually entering the information in the static IP address section and although I know the primary and secondary DNS and my own static IP address I'm unsure of the ISP gateway address or the connection type
(options given are 1483 bridged IP LCC
1483 bridged VC-Mux
1483 routed IP LCC
1483 routed VC-Mux
and IPoA).
I've also re-set the router to the factory defaults and started over but with no joy.
Can anyone offer some advice as to how to make the Buffalo work, I've no trouble at all with my DLink DSL-G604T but thought I might give ADSL2+ a try.
I've no experience of the Buffalo, but most routers auto-detect the connection requirements, and just need the login details entered. The IP address, DNS etc is obtained automatically. I would imagine that routed VC-Mux would be the setting you want.
Rik is right - you want routed VC-mux. VPI is 0, VCI is 38. You shouldn't need much else other than your username and password. :)
Where did you 'acquire' it from? Is it known to be working?

When you run the Wizard, choose PPPoA and fill in your info, as required, make the connection type, PPPoA VC-MUX. Once setup is complete, restart and you should be good to go. (hopefully) ;)
Thanks all for the good advice. Buffalo advised re-setting the router, something I'd already tried, but their method was slightly different from that in the manual. End result - ran the wizard again and bingo! Connected with no bother.
