Title: Portal Login Log Question
Post by: Stevescat on Nov 20, 2009, 09:06:10
Morning everyone,

As far as I know I have a static IP address, so I was surprised to see in the Portal Login Log, (which can be found in your account information) there was a few IP addresses that were completely different! Out of the logs last 20 entries, 5 entries were different, is this normal?

I've viewed the log from both home and work, with the same result.

I feel a bit of an idiot, one of the ip addresses is my works computer, every time I log into my account it records another entry! I thought this log was a record of my router at home, obviously not.

The log is simply the log of access to the user area :)

Bit tangential to this, but does anyone know which ports the iDNet portal uses?  Is it the standard ports 80/443 or does it use an obscure one for https?

The reason I ask is that I couldn't login from work which suggests they may use an alternative port.

If Steve can, I'd suspect you have a firewall blocking outbound access to some ports, so it might be worth checking with support or your IT guys, Tac.

I'm able to login from work, so I would think your works firewall

That's what I thought, but I can't see why they would block 443, as I think they need that for Outlook Web Access amongst other things.

If it is the case, then getting them to unblock it is likely to be an exercise in applied futility.
