I feel this is probably blatantly obvious but i have looked around the site and cant see if there is a router provided when moving to indnet? if not, any suggestions?

Gazz, no they don't provide a router, but they do sell Netgear routers, there are a few people here using 2Wire 2700's and Speedtough routers.

To answer your question - no - not for free - but hell - the outlay on a router is worth the switch - 1 month rolling contract and I've been with them for more than 2 years - with no plans to change any time soon. If you are coming from a "free for all" type high profile ISP - you won't regret the move. If you hit a problem - you'll pretty much be on first name terms (in a good way) with support - since it's not a call centre - but a support team.

how is the download limit managed ? is there some sort of user interface we can use (like a chart) to show our current download usage ?. i feel ill be peaking near the 30GB at the end of the months.

You'll get access to an accounts page where you can check at any time, you can also get a daily RSS feed. IDNet issue email alerts if their projection shows you going over the allowance.
sweet. im a avid gamer you see, we have 2PC's and a laptop and a 360 and ps3 all using the net.
There is a RSS feed which gives on/off peak for the previous day, as well and total usage month to date. Within the user area, you'll find the same information, with a projection to the end of the month, historical information and a graph for each month. Finally, if it looks from the extrapolation that you are likely to exceed your limit, an email is aautomatically sent to you :)

Most games don't use a large amount of bandwidth, do they (be gentle with me, I'm a total non-gamer ;)).

To back Rik up on the gaming front (as he is great help here), gaming does not use much. I rarely use more than a quarter a GB on gaming and surfing and watching youtube for an entire day. If your downloading games and patches (games at 4GB+ and patches or demos a 100mb+) then that's alot more. So you will have to check your usage before downloading PS3 or 360 games "direct to drive". It's only a little extra charge if you go over. But the allowance works out at around 1GB a day, so you usually have some left over at the end of the month. If it's just you on the internet you will be ok. If it's the kids as well, the usage might creep up a bit, but you can kick them off because your in charge. ;)
[edited my usage down, I don't use it as much as I thought... or play that many games. Well, maybe too many games. :blush: ]

It's a bit scary jumping from O2s "unlimited usage" to IDnets limited. But when the connection actually works, it's worth the swap. Can you check how much you used last month with o2? Or guess what you downloaded and add 250mb per day for gaming? That would give you a clue.
Im not sure about how much i downloaded, but i figure its worth a try (1 month contracts, why not?)
i also figure id rather be at a stage when i have good internet all month (peak and off peak) and have to watch it by the end of the month and download *enter random mod name here*the week after, than be able to download what ever i want but cant watch youtube videos at night and have 150+ ping on UK servers :mad: :mad:

Well i found a router, now need to find out how to install the thing before i make the move and get stuck without internet woundering how to install the dam thing :dunno:
It should be really simple. First thing is to not use any cd which came from it. Second thing is to look in the manual for the ip address you can use to access it in your web browser. It will probably be something like 192.168.1.1.
Once you've logged into it you just need to enter your Idnet username and password, check your wireless network is secure and then it is pretty much job done!
