You can use the install disk to clean up the disk and permissions though, and SL does not use cron so you dont have to wait for scripts to run ant certain times do you? Or am I mistaken on the clean up routines ???
Its useful in the fact that it pulls a lot of the utilities all together in one package,the cleanup routines may be part of fault rectifying process i.e clearing font cache. There is also a list of the BSD commands with related help.

I'm not certain, but I was under the impression that the daily/weekly/monthly scripts run at scheduled times. As I switch my Mac off at night, Onyx is a useful way of running them manually.

I leave mine in sleep Sebby, it seems to use about two watts turned off and three in sleep, also I think SL now runs those tasks when the machine is being used now, but I could be wrong. Since is only off for a few hours sleep suits me better, but it varies by your mileage.
I may start leaving mine in sleep. The thing is, it boots up so darn quickly that it just doesn't seem necessary!

I think apple say unless you are not using it for more than a couple of days leave it asleep, but I know what you mean about bootup ;D
