I have a Canon 8000f scanner which is capable of scanning negatives. It did not like Vista very much as it was designed for XP and now I can't find any W7 drivers or a scangear CS version to run properly in W7. Any ideas or am I going to have to buy a new scanner.
There are Vista drivers available. I'd give these a go on Windows 7.

I've been there but it still does not like it :eyebrow:
Personally - I love Canon printers, and Epson scanners. How old is yours? Would it be worth upgrading? Do you use it a lot?

Den,
Is this the scanner that comes with a dedicated SCSI card that you fit to the PC? I am in Spain at present so can't check but I believe I have the same model.

It's about three years old and use it for documents and scanning photos' but I wanted to scan film and it does not want to know. It turns it self off and the mains light will flash sometimes after scanning a document.

No, it's normal scanner but it was the so called top of the range.
At the moment upgrade seems the best option so I will have to look. :eek4:
Why not look at a dedicated film scanner, Den?
I was Rik but realised that the Canon should be doing more and the only film scanners I could justify paying out for would be one from the Plustec range and I read of problems with them or their software. :-\
Costco do one which scans to SD cards, 5MP. About £80 iirc, and you can always return it with them.
