Any problems?

Thanks, Bill, apparently something odd happened earlier, it's been sorted and a quick test shows no delays for me.
No problems here at the moment either.
probably the speedtest log i emailed James earlier :o
;D
Whatever it was, it's doing it again...

Just the queue, Bill.
OK Rik, cheers.
Getting a refusal to connect on port 110 on the .com account... is it just me?
May be due to this Bill.

Damn, I forgot about that!
Thanks. and right on cue it's just come back :thumb:
I obviously need more coffee...
:thumb:
All seems well now, and fast. :)
:phew:
Indeed. :)
Down again... timeout error this time.
:argh:
Almost instant here.
It's up again... I think I've discovered the quickest way for a fault to clear- post about it on here ;D
;D
It recognises my tests and stands to attention, Bill. ;)
Well do it again because it's down again :P
I don't mind teething problems after a move to new servers, the annoying thing is that I auto-check for mail every 5 minutes, and if an account times out it's taken off-line and needs manual intervention to go online again... I preferred the port 110 refusal, that didn't get taken offline :dunno:
I'll give it a few hours before I start moaning seriously :P
Can you call support, Bill, I've just checked and they are not aware of any problems...
Seems they're still moving mails across to the new server...
You didn't talk to Tim, then. :)
I just spoke to whoever answered the phone, didn't get a name :P
Bulk transfers are a good enough reason for timeouts... ARD over on tbb has the same problem.
Trouble is, I know their voices and they know mine. :)
I bet! ;D
;D

I have a hard job knowing if its simon or tim when i speak to them :red:
They're very different. :)
I'm trying to work out how I've ended up with a pile of email sitting in my Outbox displaying 'The contents of this message cannot be found'.
They are all responses to incoming mail so I'm wondering if it's because there was a send failure and they can no longer connect with the original mails which I've likely archived or even deleted. I've never seen anything like this before. If I do a 'Properties' on the mail header I get told 'An error has occurred' :dunno:
Have a word with support, Zap.
does seem quicker today. even the forum loading seems speedy :)
They've been having stern words with Samson, our server, Baz. ;)
cool......should do it more often ;D
thought Samson was one of the original guys, heard him mentioned before :dunno:
He's been around a while, though Delilah died.

Do you get an invite to their Xmas party Rik?
Not as such, but Simon & Tim usually come over 'with lunch' in December, and they visited me in hospital too...
It looks like the mail server has fallen over circa 4:30 this morning, I've alerted support.
Then I realised they wouldn't get the email, so I've sent Simon a text...
Please note that phone calls will also fail, as they are attached as WAV files to an email.

They really should get that sorted.....
The server is back up again.
Just about to post the same ;D
I got a text from Simon shortly after. :)
POP3 timing out again here, webmail is OK.
Yup, same here, but I left a message 30 seconds ago, and it seems to be working again now. That's what I call a quick fix! ;D
Yup, you just beat me to post :P
down again for me
It was only off for a few minutes as far as I could see, back up again now. ;D
And me. Yo-yo time :(
edit- that reply was for Gary!

To be fair, though, it's been OK for 18 months or so. Hopefully, the new server just needs another tweak.
Probably a tweak about the size of a size 9...
You mean, a re-boot? ;D
That would be the second tweak, Simon!

It does, Gary, it does. :(
Wow, was that 18 months ago already? Time really does fly!

Just had a few emails in.
Down and out here, yawn, I'm off to bed.
Presume this is the message you're all getting.
A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'pop3.idnet.com', Server: 'pop3.idnet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
It would be something along those lines, Rick.
Well at 2am ish it was back now its gone again. `guess they will sort it today can't be fun playing with servers that late
POP3 email is still down - and no status report?
Just had some mail come thru
Working again for me now :)
Working for me too atm, but I think I'll reserve judgement for a while...

I'd back you on that
I'm waiting for news of the cause of the problem.
:update:
A bug in the software on the new server caused last night's problems. Martin is applying a bug fix and will then re-start the server. There should be no disruption to service unless you happen to hit the server during the restart. In which case, please try again after a couple of minutes.
Tks for the info Rik.
Thanks Rik.
I use gmail for my main mail ;D and Idnet for special stuff
I use this guy down the back alley for the special stuff >:D
