Title: odd speed test result
Post by: pup on Oct 28, 2009, 21:41:53
Just done a speed test using My Speedtest (http://myspeed.visualware.com/servers/lhr.html) and it reports a speed of about 1.5Meg which tallies with the BT tests ive been doing (see thread "Ahhhhh") but what I find interesting is the "Max Bandwidth"   2320bps?? I sync at 8128 and my profile is 7150!  Also the down pause graph looks too regular to me are BT throttling it?? (I know IDNET don't!)  BT told Simon in support that it was a congested VP at the exchange.

hmm Sky llu is getting more appealing every day, but don't want to leave idnet.

I can't even begin to analyse that, but a word of warning - that report displays your IP address, which isn't great for security, given that anyone can click the link and see it.

It does sound like a congested VP, Pup. It's possible that the new hostlink might bypass that, though I'm not sure of the mechanics of exactly where it 'cuts in' so to speak.
