Any comments would be welcomed any issues with this ? :thnks:
Spybot S&D? No, not really. I think it's had it's day, and there are better spyware apps out there now, such as Super Anti Spyware, MalwareBytes, and even Windows Defender adds an extra layer of defence, such that it is. :)
:thnks: Simon
I'm sorry to say, after a strong past, SpybotS&D is as highly rated as a politicians scruples these days. I recommend SuperAntiSpyware as the best free alternative (with either Malwarebytes Antimalware or A-Squared as second place).
Steve
:iagree:
Same here its long since had its day
Me too. :)
Abandoned it a long time ago, now use SuperAntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster.
Thanks all,it actually isnt for me.I think I am well protected :fingers: a friend told me how many possible Malare threats on her machine whne I asked her what she was using she said Norton which has expired and she cant be bothered with all this ???????? whatever this means :dunno:
I did sugest the normal, get rid of Norton (using the download tool) and download the free stuff available like AVG and Mcfee...but she said its tooo complicated .
Cant help some people,
So she's going to be open to virus attacks... Don't connect anything of your to her machine or network David.
No I wouldnt and I tried to point out to her she could pass this onto others, but I did go through it all including rebooting, scanning everything I have learned here and she just said its all too much :dunno:
I thought to myself.its your PC love
You need one of the T shirts, David. ;D
No I will just ignore her in future ;D ;D
I would say superantispyware or Malwarebytes or sandboxie to stop issues in the first place. Spywareblaster just adds tons of killbits to the registry which can be bypassed and with firefox it just blocks cookies, I am not worried about having 12,000 objects in my IE restricted zone or cookies blocked in Firefox, I have other add ons that can do that better and in real time, but for someone like your friend its ok, the thing is she would have to update manually unless she paid for it, and most people forget to update, I also think it bogs your browser down no matter what Javacool say, browsing is faster without it I think. As a total freebee Windows defender is no way near as bad as it was or as people say and at least can trap the obvious baddies. Get her to have a 30 day trial of Nod 32 or Kaspersky antivirus, I would these days go for Nod 32 V4 as Kaspersky on my system caused to many conflicts, Nod 32 AV runs well and does the job, as far as any AV really does. Avoid complicated messy software firewalls they can also cause more harm than good in the wrong hands, windows firewall behind a firewall router is good enough for most.
I have tried Gary she just called me a techhead !! whatever that is but for me its a compliment ......I dont give her laptop long ther way she is going,I ha=eard her desktop has already given up the ghost so some people never learn :dunno:
Me a Techhead
She may have a different outlook on PC security the day her personal details go walkies.
You did your best David, let her get on with it.
Hi Vit :thumb: good to see you.strangethis as I heard from her just yesterday and she ended up following the advice to the letter and now gets the message "Your comptor is portected" no more threats of malware so it struck home. :thumb:
