It seem I cannot log onto the mail server, if I log onto Idnet main page the text is corrupted, I believe they may have a problem , can anybody else confirm this ?
I can't get mail either :(
POP3 is failing authentication, and webmail is giving me this message:
DATABASE ERROR: CONNECTION FAILED!
Unable to connect to the database!
Please contact your server-administrator.
Anyone else affected?
Same here. Glad to know it's not just me. No doubt IDNet are aware and will fix it soon.
My Post (http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=15713.0) Although idnet free mail is ok.
Me too. Network status page isn't working properly either.
There is no sign of any of my IDnet mail accounts showing up on IDnet.net login page :dunno:
Confirm POP and webmail are down as stated above.
glad it's not just me - i'm getting the same error message - thought my router needed a reboot
:eek4:
Kicked my router as well but makes no difference. ;D
has anyone let idnet know? are they aware? ::)
They will be in a minute. :)
Not surprisingly, FTP is also down. :(
FTP is OK here, mail is down.
I think some of the customer login hamsters have died too:

Thanks for the info peeps. Hopefully get my mail soon. :fingers:
This outage means that my email from the National Lottery advising that I have won the jackpot is going to be delayed. :bawl:

Me too. Network status page isn't working properly either.
RSS down also.
As far as I have been able to test, mail, RSS, blog space & the photo gallery are all down. The customer portal is delivering gibberish, but web space and FTP are working. We've alerted IDNet, but it's a matter of when the calls get picked up.
Hmm. Definitely can't FTP, but I am wondering if this something to do with the fact that my gateway was changed. :dunno:
I can, so I'd say yes atm, or I'm being lucky. ;)
Tried to logon using gw5 instead of gw6 (former gateway) as part of the logon, but it still doesn't want to know.
I think this will be a call to support tomorrow.
Hopefully it will be sorted before then, if it's a remote problem...
Everything down here getting DNS errors. I have logged a call with support. The service has been up and down this past week or so, especially since I moved to ADSL2+ (not sure if thats connected)
It may be to do with BT's engineering work if everything is down.
Mail seems to be working now. :thumb:
It does. Thanks, Ray.
As is everything else...
I have only just managed to get online also tried everything in the end unpluggged the router,no mail nothing :dunno: I put it down to the works being carried out, they did say it would not affect service............so I work on the assumption it will ;D
When I say "They" I mean my isp ;D
That's the second such report I've seen this morning, David. I think BT's 'no interruptions' equate to their 'up to 24 Mbps'. :(
POP mail now working.
QuoteThat's the second such report I've seen this morning, David. I think BT's 'no interruptions' equate to their 'up to 24 Mbps'. Sad
I had semi expected it although it took longer than usual to get online one possible good thing they are doing something !wonder how many are struggling with the same problem :dunno:
My mail is back now as well

POP mail now working.
It is, Dave, as is the customer portal, etc. The network status page shows details of the problem.
That would not have had an effect on me though surely Rik ???
It shouldn't, that was the other Dave I was talking to. ;) There is a BT MUX issue though, but that shouldn't be affecting you either.
:dunno: There is nothing on my status page
As I say, it's possible that it's the BT 'dimensioning' work, but I really don't know.
Quotedimensioning'
:hehe:
Why cant they use bl...dy English ;D
Because we might find out what the problem was, David. ;)
I read yesterday that I think its Facebook they have a page or whatever they call it entitled We Hate BT ,or something like this...now there is an accolade
I bet that's heavily subscribed to. :)
Pass ;D
Sorry to confuse the issue - another Dave here!
As at 12.39 still no email (obviously web OK) I have re-booted my router & computer, not that I expected it to make any difference.
David
It should be working OK, certainly is for me, Dave. Call the out of hours number, that's working again now.
Everything okay again here, including FTP. :)
All is shiny once again :D
The database server fell over. That holds all the user names and passwords, so it stopped people signing in to email, it stopped data being accessed for the RSS feed and customer portal, stopped sign ins for blog, gallery and, in some cases, FTP. It also stopped the out of hours voice number from forwarding messages to support. Fairly comprehensive really. :)
thank you to all at idnet for their prompt service, as usual
:thumb:
Thanks, Ginger. We're blaming Martin, who had gone swimming. I keep telling him that water and computers don't mix, but will he listen? ;D
Panic over - entered user name & password when requested and everything now sorted.
Funny thing was it I only had to do it for one account and not two others which I have.
David
Possibly the first one 'got disturbed' when you checked while the server was down?

You haven't spelt it wrong, you've just identified which type. ;)
is the mail prob fixed still getting a window asking for username and password on one of my laptops. Running vista using windows mail :dunno:
It is, Baz. Re-enter the username and password on the affected machine, they may have become corrupted.

Everything working this end Baz thats on idnet.com and my domain mail with them
It's not fixed here. My one remaining IDNet.com email address appears to send OK, but emails sent from and to it for at least the last hour, possibly longer, have vanished into the ether. Who's to blame this time IDNet?

I assume that's a joke?
Straight from tech support a minute ago: "We're getting our server looked at. Leave it with us".
Yawn......
You should get some sleep. ;D
As I understand it, there's a queue of about 10 minutes on the SMTP server. It sounds like someone may have done a bulk mailing again.
You haven't been emailing your Donald Russell orders again, have you Rik? ;D
;D
No, I've had a hot line put in to the MD. ;)
I though you are the MD or at least have a controlling interest in the joint ( :groan: ).
He's got a major stock holding in his freezers, Lodge. ;D

Correction, it was noticed 10 minutes before I called in, the delay is nearer to 2 hours, but should now be coming down rapidly.
