I have a Netgear DG834GT running DGTeam 0848 firmware.
I'm having to reboot the router occasionally because the main family PC, which is hard wired to the router, loses network connectivity. The PC reports limited or no network connectivity and I an unable to browse to the router home page using the router IP address.
According to my son, his wireless connection was unaffected at the time (which I find difficult to believe :-\ ).
Unfortunately the problem is intermittent (may be once ot twice per week). Often enough to be annoying, but too intermittent to know when I may get a chance to undertake further diagnostics.
Has anybody experience of anything similar or suggestions about what to try next (e.g change of firmware)?
Any ideas welcome.
You could bypass DHCP by configuring your PC with a static IP address in the same range that your router uses (making sure to specify your 'gateway' address to be that of your router).

How do I configure my PC with a static IP address and how do I know what 'range' my router uses? Sorry to be thick on this subject but I just don't know how to follow the instructions :dunno:

Have reverted back to my older router (834g v4) from the 834gt to see if that makes a difference :fingers: So far it is working OK but we will see over the next couple of days or so :fingers: It is strange that many are getting the same problem with the GT version pointing to an individual weakness in that particular model :dunno:

Only two days I know, but :fingers: so far not had the problem since changing routers :fingers: Will keep the thread updated as to events ;)

The GT when first released had issues, it would drop sessions quite happily and overheat alot standing the unit vertically helped, mine actually burnt out producing a nasty smell, I was glad I was home when it happened. Later models may be ok but I never went back to it Q

Laptops still logging in without problem :fingers: At the moment problem points to GT router being duff. We shall see! ;)

It really is pointing to a fault with the Netgear GTversion. Laptops still connecting first time, each time since changing back to 834g V4 router. :fingers: It is a shame that jaydub the OP has not updated the thread as to his/her progress with the problem. :(
I dont know which firmware you were using on the GT Q but the latest one 1.02.19 is a no hope for using DHCP. Well it was for me with DHCP lan IP address reservation they were all over the place. I believe earlier firmwares were more predictable and it is/was a highly rated router provided you can keep it cool.

My main query is the fact that there are many many reports on various forums of the GT version suffering from exactly the same problem. If this is in fact the case everything is pointing toward a general 'fault' with this particular router :dunno:
My GT router worked well for two years or more but over recent weeks the 'limited or no connectivity' problem arose for no reason. So far my change of router is doing the bizzo up to now :fingers:
Another 2 days go by and still no problems, everything working fine, no 'limited or no conectivity' messages for almost a week now. It all points to a 'weakness' in the Netgear 834 GT router. Glad I changed back to my 834G V4 :thumb:
Will only update now if there are any major changes. Shame jaydub the OP has exited the thread without an update re his/her problem :(

Eight days on and all running smoothly re 834g V4. I would say it is definitely confirmed that there is a fault with the 834GT when reporting 'limited or no network connectivity' and the remedy is to change routers. So, Rik if you get any other posts on this subject the advice is obvious, try another router! ;)

You could always try a DGTeam firmware on the GT. Just a thought...

Having had two weeks in the sun, I've come back to a router working as it should. Up time now at 444 hours (shortly before we went away) since the last reboot.
I've not made any changes since originally posting here, but am considering either allocating fixed IP addresses to the PCs or going back to either older DGTeam or even Netgear 1.02.14 firmware. I am fully aware of the Netgear 1.02.19 DHCP issue and won't be touching it with the proverbial bargepole. :lol:
Also posted at TBB and somebody there has suggested putting the router IP address as the primary DNS entry, which may also be worth a try.
Update: 834G V4 still working perfectly with laptops :thumb:

No problems here since I rebooted it before I went on holiday in mid-August.
