might be of use for some. Shows the worldwide location of an ip address. There are a number of sites that do this, but this one seems to provide more info than others.

It has me in Bristol. ;D

Works for me. Rik always has to be difficult, So. ;)

Mapping isn't working for me there, So.
Actually, just tried the bottom link, and that dumps me in Bristol too.
It looks like it is how idnet have got things setup then. How far are you from Bristol ?
It has me in Letchworth which sounds like something people do at clubs to each other ;D Thats 85 miles as the crow flies from me

About 150-200 miles at a guess. I'll try my other IP address and see what that gives.
I wonder if being on WBC makes any difference?
My other IP shows up as Milton Keynes...
Works for me, it places me in Lutterworth which around 4 miles from where I live. :)
Looks like I'll have to agree with Simon then, and say Rik's just being awkward ;D
Only half of me is, So, the WBC connected half. :)

Can't disagree with that, So. ;D

85 miles does seem beyond what i would expect. These type of services usually get it right to within 30 miles or so. i presume you have used your ip from the router wan interface, not some possible proxied address..

Would be beyond the realms of possibility that this symptom could be connected to the ongoing WBC issues? If connections are being routed halfway round the country, could this not have an effect?
It could. Though I go through the MK node...
Places me in Letchworth approx 500 miles away from me! :dunno: NOT ON WBC :dunno:
Which is logical as that's where the registration would have been.
Well, mine is accurate, not on WBC. :dunno:
im in London ;D

You must have long arms then, Baz. ;D

Zoom in on the google map pin and I am on Lambeth Palace Road looking across the Thames at Big Ben !
The program is as useful as all the rest :dunno:
I just checked, Alan, I can see you on Google Earth. ;D
Blimey, I'm where I am. How rare :D
I use something similar for Firefox called Flagfox, which tells you where the server for the website you're viewing is based. I found it when I was updating my website, it's cool (and very nerdy .'. I love it :D).
Perhaps someone is just trying to find out where Rik is to send him a gift for all his useful advice and quick fixes?
... or to rob his freezer. ;D

Thanks for that one :) I use one called show ip which also includes other features such as whois, ip2country etc etc. I was looking only the other day for some way of adding a flag to it, you have now provided a way. Many thanks. KARMIC!

In that case, the Bristol result is the correct one. ;D
Another fan of Flagfox here, So. It's useful when buying on the web, so you don't find yourself dealing with a Chinese firm, say, when you thought they were based in the UK.

Nail on head :)
It puts me in a field in Hornchurch ;D
Mobile dongle, eh? ;D
It was once upon a time but I fear age is taking its toll ;D
