Title: Windows Media Center annoying icon question!
Post by: PuncH on Aug 02, 2009, 10:33:26
Was setting up my new laptop last night and setting up my xbox 360 as a media centre extender when a round, green icon appeared in the bottom right hand corner with all my AV, firewall icons etc.

It's labelled Windows Media Center Update and I can't seem to get rid of the darn thing!

I can see through taskmanager that it's taking up very little resources, but it's just bugging me that's all!

Does anyone know if it'll disappear on it's own or how to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance

Sorry, Jonathan, I've managed to avoid the WMC.  :shake:

I don't use it myself but is it to do with Extender updates? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/extender/owner/support.mspx

Have you tried clicking on it to see what it does?  Maybe it's waiting for permission to install updates?

It's the TV Program Guide Update which is automatic. Once it has updated it'll disappear.
