7 Is much better than 9 it got more and more bloated installed tool bars and became hell tbh, I would never go near it again, and as for getting it off your pc you have to use their tool for a clean uninstall :shake: Nero is like a virus
Thanks very much for that feedback. First hand experience is always useful. :thumb:
A good find Noreen :thumb: I've tried earlier versions of Nero but was never happy with it, myself i use Roxio but maybe it's what you get used to.
I still use a free OEM version of Nero 6.5 with NeroVision Express 3.1 that came bundled with an Asus DVD drive.
Can't fault it because it does everything I require except create ISOs, but I use another program for that.
EDIT: Sorry Noreen, I meant to say thanks for this as I'm giving it a bash.
Now that really is a karmic find, Noreen. Nero 9 Basic is probably better anyway as it shouldn't be so bloated!
Well worth a Karma Noreen. :thumb:
Should be in the Bargain Bin as well.
I have been a Nero Convert having lived through the dire days when Roxio first took over Easy CD Creator and "wrecked" it initially. I burnt Toaster after Coaster for months before converting to Nero and haven't looked back since. The Roxio forum was one of the ones I cut my forum teeth on! :)
I am currently on 7 so reading Gary's warning I shall try the free 9 on one of my Windows 7 RC partitions that are only for testing purposes anyway.
Thanks Noreen! :karmic:
Hate to report that this isn't worth your bandwidth because it's a very crippled version of Nero and probably does much less than the burning software you currently use.
Personally, I regard this as malware because it's just an advertisement disguised as a freebie.
Avoid.
I haven't installed it yet, as I already have an earlier version of Nero, but I was wondering which bits were missing.
There is a Nero 9 Lite flying about the net, but I would use version 7 or something else entirely, shame it got more bloated than Norton and a shame this version is crippled as Drummer has found out, :karma: for finding a version may be of use to some and will not over take your pc or install toolbars without permission. The total size of Nero 9 on your drive after installation would be around 650 MB+ which is definitely larger then what is expected. In most case you only need Nero BurningROM for burning CD/DVD. So anything smaller is better

You have version 7 Simon? There is a Lite installer that has been compiled online http://www.blogsdna.com/2788/download-nero-lite-v9260-say-good-bye-to-bloated-nero-installer.htmyou just need a valid key for it.
Yes, Nero 7, but it seems OK to me, Gary, as I only installed the bits I wanted.

& was a good program after that it got worse and installed stuff that AV programs called spyware, toolbars etc that you had no control over, stick with what you have :thumb:
I use CDburnerXP these days. Great find though Noreen
:thnks: I think that I'm staying with my present installation of Nero 7 as it does all I want (combined with WMP), I'm not very adventurous especially at the moment.
I tend to stick with what works for me, Noreen. I usually don't find I use the extra bells and whistles, so why clog the machine up with them?
How is the arm?
My arm is getting better however at the weekend I strained a muscle in my back which is making life a bit difficult at the moment. Can't sit at the computer for too long at a time and getting up and down with one arm and now a bad back is wearing.
:( :getwell:
I can imagine. Can you take ibuprofen?
No, doesn't go with my other medication. Just taking paracetamol at the moment although I have got some codeine which I'm trying not to take. Gets very disheartening at times as my arm was and is doing well. I've got a friend visiting shortly so that'll help.
Same here. It's a shame as it's more effective than paracetamol for muscle problems. Enjoy your visit. ;D
Sorry for digging up an old thread but.........my father in laws laptop has no CD burning softare on it at all, even though its less than a year old. Tried to use CDBurnerXP but it cannot detect his DVD RW drive.
So suggestions? Was going to dload the Nero 9 lite as posted in the OP but I remembered this thread and thought I'd revisit it. Anyone know of anything better, free is good :)
Shame you can't get CDBurnerXP to work, as that's what I would have suggested. How about this one?

Here's another one that might do the job..................

I've used Nero 7 on several computers without problem. I've also used ImgBurn with no problems.

Nero seven was the last decent version before toolbars and bloat became the Norm, I believ you can find Nero Lite or just the burning Rom in trial format online, avoid version 9 an 8 they are far to bloated for their own good.

here is the URL of fault finding help from the site http://cdburnerxp.se/help/Appendices/troubleshooting
