I have recently purchase a Panasonic TV that can be connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable. At the moment I use the 2 wire 2700 router. Now can I simply plug a cable from the 2700 router into the TV, which of course has an Ethernet lan socket? Also as I would prefer not to run a cable across 2 rooms, from my computer to the TV can I use a wireless solution? If so what hardware would I need?
Yours in ignorance.
Didn't I see this question last week, BB? To avoid the cable, the most obvious solution would be mains networking, something like this offering from Maplin. (http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=48539&C=brilliant1&U=P8%2009&T=mains%20networking&gclid=CJafreDD6ZsCFaAA4wodKiOS5Q)
Beat me to it Rik, I was going to suggest the same solution

Great minds and all that...
I am never sure if its great minds think alike, or fools seldom differ :dunno:
I'm an optimist. ;)

We already did that, Glenn. ;D
I think he's losing it, Rik. ;D

Stupid question but what do you use the ethernet connection for? Is it for lan or internet use
I wasn't that bothered, Steve, but from what little I read, it was for watching streamed material, be that sourced from the LAN or the 'net.
If its coming from LAN I would go for a gigabit switch for the server and a couple of the high speed 200 mbps homeplugs
Are you going mad, Broadback? :)x

Sebby it is impossible for me to go mad, as I already am. My memory is terrible, and getting worse by the day. on the plus side I can reread bvooks and watch all those repeats on telly as though they are new! almost worth it.
