I have been having a strange problem on my main PC when trying to create new mailboxes on my 1and1 email account, when I submit the create form I am getting the error message shown below and am unable to create the mailbox. I have just logged on from my other PC and managed to create 2 new mailboxes with no problems whatsoever ??? what's going on? both machines are running XP Pro, Nod 32 AV, and Comodo Firewall and I've used Firefox in both cases.
I'm confused. :stars:

It's not the most helpful error message is it, Ray? Any Firefox add-ons which could be causing it? Popup / ad blocker, perhaps? :dunno:

Support did it for me

It's not, Simon, I thought it might be a Firefox addin at first but the same thing happened with IE 8 :yuk: as well, it would seem that something that is running on this PC is interfering with the submission of the web form, it does seem strange though as the process works perfectly on the other MC. :dunno:
I even got 1and1 support on the case and they managed to login and create and then delete a mailbox with no problem.
Could it be a firewall, AV, or something like that, Ray? Is there something on that machine that isn't on the others?

That was my first thought and does seem the most likely cause, Simon, but they are both running the same AV and Firewall, possibly the settings could be different on one machine to the other. I think I will have to go through the AV and Firewall settings and see if there is anything different ofr a start.
I can't think what could possibly cause that locally. A 500 server error is a remote error. ???
A difference in timing between the two machines, perhaps? Certainly, a 500 error is occurring on their server.

Yes that's what I thought, Rik, it gets more bizarre I've got Windows 7 RC on the second HD in this machine I've just booted into that and tried to create a mailbox from that, still get the same 500 error ??? . Which would seem to indicate that it could be a hardware related issue on this MC, possibly the NIC?
That's possible, Ray.

That's possible, Ray.
I've just checked the other MC and it has a Marvel Yukon NIC in it where as the problem MC has a Realtek one, I've got a spare Netgear PCI card somewhere I think I'll stick that in and see if it cures the problem. :fingers: :)
If it's not that, I'm not sure what to suggest, short of a 'line by line' comparison of all the AV settings. :(

Well that didn't work, I've even tried it with Firewall and AV temporarily, disabled still gets the 500 server error. :dunno:
edit: Now I've just had to reactivate MS Office because it's detected a hardware change. :rant2:
Don't you just love PCs and Windows?
just a thought which could be way off.. Do you use roboform on all browsers ? If so turn it off ? Beyond that can only think of turning off every bit ot security software, then clear the browser cache and then retry again.
It is weird, Ray, I wish I could come up with a sensible suggestion, but I can't. :(

:karmic: So, it looks like it was Robform causing the problem, I've just disabled it and successfully created a new mailbox. :thumb:
Rik had issues last week that Roboform caused, turning off Roboform fixed the issue
Wasn't that Rick. ;)

I think it was, Rik. ;)
One or the other, or as the say in Cornwall 'same difference' not heard it in a while though
There's people who spell the name correctly and people who don't. ;D
And which is correct, because my dad spells it Ric
I only spell it the way I do because there was a guy at school with the surname Rick, and I wanted to avoid confusion. After 45+ years, though, I'd struggle to change now.
