do you know of a program to rip DVDs to computer then maybe convert to Divx format so as to save on a phone.

Free prog if possible.

Have a look in download.com  (http://download.cnet.com/windows/) to see if anything takes your fancy.

That's if you haven't done it already.

Nope but a friend says it's good.  I tend to do things the other way around with a vso prog.(convert x to dvd).

Try Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/)
I use it to rip DVDs for AppleTV and iPhone. It doesn't do DivX but does do MPEG4 and H.264.

I use Handbrake on my Mac. I hadn't realised it was available for Windows too. :thumb:
