When adsl2+ was activated on my line last monday I was syncing at 10.5 mbps, although my download speed was about 7.5-8.
It is now syncing at 6.6, but my download speed is about 2.8 mbps and seems to be dropping.
Pings are far better now at around 40, where as on max they were always over 100 -200, but then again my download speed on
max was around 7mbps, so I'm hoping things will improve over the next few weeks and get some decent speeds back again.

It looks like the exchange has increased your target SNRM in response to instability, the objective being to stabilise the line by way of forcing it to sync lower. ADSL2+ is more susceptible to noise as it uses double the frequencies of ADSL2, and so this is probably why you didn't have problems in the past. It's also an AR7-based router, which probably isn't the best - routers with a Broadcom chipset seem to be the best, though this is something we can address later.
Could you tell us a bit about your setup? Are you connected to an extension socket? Have you ever removed rings wires or anything like that to try and improve the line? :)
Thanks for your reply Sebby. I'm connected directy to the test socket and there are no other sockets in the house. I spoke to someone from Idnet earlier and he said the line should stabalize and the speed will improve. He also said the connection looked good and the resyncs will stop, it's just the training period apparently. I also found out that the electric went off while I was out so the router would have resynced again, causing another drop in speed, I would imagine. Yer man from Idnet seemed to know he's stuff so I'll leave it their capable hands, and get myself a beer and forget all about it. Cheers :thumb:
The whole training period thing is a bit misunderstood, I think. ADSL2/2+ is rate adaptive so the line will adjust whether in or out of the training period. My feeling is that things won't just return to how they were. Anyway, see how you go and get back to us if you need any further help. :)
