Title: IDNet not loading correctly
Post by: Broadback on Jun 14, 2009, 14:22:39
Anyone else having a problem?  When I load http://www.idnet.co.uk/ I get the coding for IDNet not the usual display as this sample:

#RedirectPermanent /broadband/cop.jsp http://www.idnet.net/cop.jsp
#RedirectPermanent /mobis http://www.idnet.net/mobisxtnd
#RedirectPermanent /clients/paperplanes http://www4.idnet.net/clients/paperplanes
#RedirectPermanent /archive/aio-uk http://www4.idnet.net/archive/aio-uk
#RedirectPermanent /archive/qxl http://www4.idnet.net/archive/qxl

all other sites are fine, so any ideas please?

There was a slight problem yesterday, so perhaps they're working on the site?

That looks very much like the contents of .htaccess!

Despite several attempts I've not been able to login to my Idnet account since Friday. I'm sure that I'm entering my correct username and password but it comes up with login failed. I've tried selecting the option to retrieve my username and password just to check by e-mailing it to me but I don't receive any e-mails either. I have also had problems with calling up the logon screen too.

I'll try again on Monday and if I still have a problem I'll call support.

It's working for me, and I can log in, but it doesn't look quite right, still.  I'm seeing a light blue banner at the top, which I don't think was there before.

I've been in the club for a few years now. I find that people who have retired seem to fall into 1 of 2 distinct groups. Those (like myself) who love it, and wonder where they found time to work, and those that hate it and don't know what to do with themselves.  I was out in a nearby town, a few weeks back, and bumped into a chap who was one of my bosses. He was gutted by being forced into retirement, said he awoke every morning and lay there thinking what was the point in his life now. His wife (understandably) was not a happy bunny either. So sad!

I've never understood people who can't fill their time, BB, there's so much I do and want to do that a job would just get in the way. It was the same when I was a kid, I was never bored in school holidays, they just weren't long enough.

Nor me, Rik, I always found when I was working the job was always getting in the way of my hobbies and pastimes  ;D I nearly snatched their hand off when I got the chance to take early retirement from the NHS. I don't know now how I found time to go to work.  :)

Me too, Ray. I was out the door as fast as I could go, and Sue did the same. I thoroughly enjoyed my work, but I worked to live, not lived to work.

I've got just over 3 years to go before retirement but I might consider coming back on a part time basis depending on how extensive the list of jobs is that SWMBO is contemplating for me ;D.

exactly Rik. You're only the second person I can recall saying that. I say it myself to plenty people, some just shrug others dont see it.Theres more to life than just working, my view any way.

Those who dont seem to be able to switch off need to be careful I think

My philosophy as well, Baz, I always worked to live and not lived to work, I've seen too many people going down the latter route and ending up with poor health or not even making it to retirement.  ;)

I recall clearly that, when I left the security of employment to become self-employed, I was concious of going from Rik Bean, Publicity Officer, to Rik Bean, I'll take on anything if the pay is right. I felt very naked for a few months. Sue had a similar sense of bereavement when she packed up, but that quickly passed and neither of us would consider going back to employment except in financial extremis now.

I can't wait for retirement. I've got so much lined up to do, I don't know where I am going to find the time for it all.  ;D

Give it a few weeks and you will not believe you ever had the time to go to work. :)

I took redundancy from a computer firm at the ripe old age of 58. The money was enough to live on until I was 60 and able to get my full company (final salary, those were the days) pension, also to add some money to the pension fund. When I first started in computers it was a high profile highly technical job, which I enjoyed, by the time I had finished it was quite the opposite, vertualy all I did was swop chunks of equipment, and dealt with young bottom of the heap peeps, where as before it was financial directors and their ilk. When I started the general opinion was that computers would get rid of the bottom jobs, not true they got rid of the middle. Where have all the pay accounts and draughtsmen gone?
