hi,
I recently switched to IDNet from O2 due to their issues with Access. I've been amazed at having a fully working internet until this evening when my speeds have plummeted below 0.2mbps making web browsing even worse than it ever was with O2.
I'm using a Netgear DG834G, updated firmware to 4.01.40 and am running Windows XP (SP2).
Connection stats as follows:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2432 kbps 832 kbps
Line Attenuation 34 db 10 db
Noise Margin 11 db 8 db
I understand there are issues with people on GW6 which I *think* is what I'm on - or at least my username would suggest so - and that this can be simply resolved within a few minutes?
Thanks.

Looking at your stats, you appear to have some instability which is highlighted by the 11db noise margin. Could you try a BT speedtest (http://test.speedtester.bt.com:50301/) and copy/paste the result here? Specifically the profile as I'm expecting this to be your limiting factor...

I think Lance is right. The profile could be as low as 135k if there's been a lot of instability, which would make your connection grind to a half, despite the sync, until the profile recovers.
Hi, thanks for the replies.
Somehow it fixed itself whilst I was afk and is fine now - just ran a speedtest and this is the result:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 2432 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 832 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 1750 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1635 kbps
Looks fine, so I suspect the profile has recovered since you posted originally. :)
Welcome to the forum, Mankatron. :welc: :karma:
