Title: Network Connection... Grrr!!
Post by: Simon on Jun 08, 2009, 14:07:44
I've just spent two hours at a friends, trying to work out why their laptop wouldn't connect to the Netgear router.  I set up the connection countless times, changed passwords, rebooted, restarted, reconfigured, delved into Norton Internet Security  :eek4: all to no avail, then I noticed a strange icon in the system tray, which turned out to be Virgin Broadband Manager.  Turned the bloody thing off, and all was fine!!  :argh:

Why is it that a 2 minute job on a computer, always takes hours??

Things like that drive me mad. They have no reason for existing, imo.

It's like the two minute job to change a battery, which takes half an hour due to the cover not wanting to come off. :sigh:

I find I need 1/2 hour to find my tools,    10 mins for the glasses,   5 mins standing in the tool shed, wondering what I'm looking for, then usually find the thing I wanted to fix wasn't plugged in or something :red:

Had one of those moments today myself.

Wireless wasn't working on my laptop. Went through everything in windows & searched the net.. an hour later i looked at the wireless switch on the side.. Yep, you guessed it, it was off!
