Title: Which ADSL2+ Router To Buy
Post by: emzino on May 29, 2009, 15:14:01
Hi all. I've just requested an upgrade to the new ADSL2+ service IDNet offers but don't think my Router is able to take ADSL2+.

I just need some advice on what Router to go for. Here are some facts:

-My line has a bad reputation of not being so stable (although it's not been so bad lately).
-Current connections to the Router are: Xbox360 (Wireless), Laptop (Wireless) & my PC (Wired via CAT6).

The wireless connections have to go through about 1-2walls. That's about it.

Can anyone recommend a decent Router?

Many thanks in advance.

If you ask in a couple of weeks, we might have a better idea. ;) The big switch of customers will start at the end of next week, and right now, all we have to go on is a small sample of testers. The best bet for connection purposes is a Netgear, these have so far been found to work at all exchanges. Draytek and Zyxel have had particular problems, and some Linksys and SMC models have been problematic. We don't yet have anyone using a 2700 on WBC, which is something we're all waiting for. The 2700s have a great reputation for stability, so many of us use them for that reason.

Will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks Rik.

Just been reading about the Netgear WNR2000 Wireless N Router as well and sounds good so that'll be on the list.

Thanks for the quick reply

NP. Sorry I can't give much of a straight answer just yet, we are all waiting to find out what works well - you should start seeing the posts appearing this time next week.

Well remembered, Steve.  :thumb: For some reason, I had David down as a Netgear user.

The WNR2000 has no modem likewise the WNR3500 so you'll still need a compatible modem.

It does. It may well be that he was using a Netgear when he joined and that has stuck in my memory.
