My guess is it's probably just me considering there aren't any other reports of it, but is anybody else seeing a lower than normal throughput tonight? I'm currently getting ~1.5mbps despite a sync of 6336 and a 5.5Mb IP profile. Pings are also up too:
Tracing route to www.idnet.net [212.69.36.10]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.0.1
2 51 ms 57 ms 54 ms telehouse-gw2-lo2.idnet.net [212.69.63.55]
3 91 ms 85 ms 74 ms telehouse-gw3-g0-1-400.idnet.net [212.69.63.243]
4 100 ms 96 ms 94 ms redbus-gw2-g0-1-331.idnet.net [212.69.63.5]
5 69 ms 82 ms 87 ms redbus-gw1-fa2-0-300.idnet.net [212.69.63.225]
6 95 ms 96 ms 97 ms www.idnet.net [212.69.36.10]
Trace complete. :(
If it's exchange congestion it would appear to have only just started today, having had over 3 years of full throughput - how lucky have I been!
Anyone else experiencing issues tonight? (I'm on GW5 for what it's worth)
It might be worth rebooting your router to see if that helps...
No problems here, Tom, full speed on my line, pings 'normal'. It would be worth re-booting your router as a first step, and see if that helps. It sometimes cures ping problems in particular, but we don't know why, as the route will be identical on reconnection. The possibility is that it clears out the BT radius server, but we don't know.
If things don't improve, have a word with support and they can check for exchange congestion.

But do it quick, before they disappear for the bank holiday.
Thanks for the swift replies. I've just done a router reboot and things remain the same :(. I'll give IDNet a call and hope somebody's still there!
Hi Tom
Support have checked your line, your profile is fine, the ping from their end is fine. What I'd suggest is that you repeat BT speedtests at 3 hour (or so) intervals and see if there's a pattern. If it's contention at the exchange, throughput should recover at quiet times. As school holidays started today, I suppose it's just possible that there's a lot of extra traffic. If things don't improve, let support know (with copies of your test results) and they will poke BT with a sharp stick. :)

They are, I've just spoken to James. :)
It does seem busy for me tonight as well getting only 2-3 Mbps. You can see the effect of a reboot I normally get 5-6.5Mbps
5/22/2009 4:35 PM GMT 5.11 Mb/s 0.37 Mb/s 74 ms London < 50 mi
5/22/2009 4:32 PM GMT 4.01 Mb/s 0.38 Mb/s 43 ms Maidenhead ~ 50 mi
5/22/2009 4:29 PM GMT 2.95 Mb/s 0.17 Mb/s 43 ms Maidenhead ~ 50 mi
5/22/2009 4:25 PM GMT 2.33 Mb/s 0.38 Mb/s 85 ms London < 50 mi
I'm seeing 2.93/.38 on a 3M profile.

That looks healthier, Steve.

Hi Rik,
Thanks for contacting support for me :). They (James I presume) told me to check the forum as you had pointed them towards this thread and basically told me what you have! Such fantastic customer service :).
I was surprised to hear that IDNet can get the VP utilisation data off BT too, so that could help to prove if it is congestion at exchange level.
I'll get busy doing the BT speedtests this weekend and see what the results indicate. Thanks for the help ;D.
My pleasure, Tom. :)
