Title: mains light red
Post by: Den on May 14, 2009, 08:48:31
My next door neighbour (who is with Idnet) has a 2wire router but yesterday lost connection. When I went in to see him the mains light was on red. disconnected it and plugged in again and all worked fine. He now tells me that the mains light is red again and will not change after disconnection and powering up again. Does this mean that its got incorrect voltage coming from the transformer or is the router faulty.

It is failing the bios check and is dead. It cannot be repaired in the U.K.

However they are one of the cheapest items on Ebay

Have not been in yet but he now tells me (just before he went out) that it has now turned green but is flashing, does that change anything?

It does that during the boot, Den, but I'd be out getting another 2700 in his position.

It flashes whilst booting the Bios.

It is just possible that the firmware is updating, if it ever boots let us know what the logs say.

My first thoughts were correct  ;D It was the power supply. Snag is the power supply for a 2wire is a 5.1 volt 3amp and on ebay they seem to be from the US or Hong Kong. At the moment I have been able to borrow one and hope to find one later but at least he is up and running. By the way he has now joined us and uses the name jaybee so I hope you will all get to know him soon.

I was just going to say it's probably the power supply. Try here (http://www.digidave.co.uk/jshop/product.php?xProd=356). :)
