Title: Rebuild your Outlook NK2 cache
Post by: Sebby on May 11, 2009, 20:44:39
Ever formatted your computer and been slightly peeved that when you begin typing a name in Outlook's to field, your list of remembered addresses have disappeared? Well, that's because you needed to backup and restore the nk2 file stored in C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (or C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Outlook on Vista). But if you've already formatted and forgotten to do it, I found a great application today that will rebuild this file by going through your sent items.

I hope this if of some use to others. :)

I'm sure it will be, Seb.  I always thought it 'remembered' the names only from the address book.

Nope, it's kind of strange. When you start typing a name or email address, it only shows addresses that you've sent to in the past. You have to click the 'To' button and select a contact if you want to do it that way.

Not having used Outlook for mail, for about 7 years, I wouldn't know. :)
