Title: Browser for low spec pc?

Hey

Ie7 does not like this pentium 2 machine I have to fix

Youtube takes up 100% cpu and other content such as flash games arent too smooth

Recommendation?

Run Peacekeeper (http://service.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/index.action) on the machine and it will let you compare the various browsers on your actual machine

Firefox? Although it does tend to use a fair amount of memory.

SeaMonkey?  You can install the browser only, and it doesn't use a lot of memory.  :)

I suppose security is going to be an issue if you don't use something mainstream (or perhaps not for that matter...). :)

I recommend a faster CPU. :P

Both YouTube videos and Flash animations are rendered by plug ins and changing browser won't make one iota of difference to their performance unless it makes the difference between filling the memory (causing the machine to thrash (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrash_(computer_science))) and not.
