Title: Firmware Options
Post by: 4Way on Apr 10, 2009, 23:18:29
I've just got a spare 2Wire off Ebay and checking the Tripod site it tells me the following

This must NOT be flashed with SBC v4.25.19 recovery firmware.

factory shipped firmware v5.29.107.12 or 19.

If I want to keep it pre v6 firmware so I can tweak the wireless what is the best way to go so it won't update?  Is my  only option the Singtel firmware which I believe you have to reboot periodically or is there a better option.

I'm not the best one to advise, but do have an option here (http://home/xslt?PAGE=E13&THISPAGE=E02&NEXTPAGE=E13) to untick Remote Management?  I did, and mine hasn't updated to V6 yet, but I haven't a clue if that's the reason why.

Firmware 5.29.117.6 is the only one that polls BT's current update server, all others are safe for now.

You can stop 5.29.117.6 routers from eventually updating by changing the acs_url entry to https://gw-5-29-117.cwmp.cms.2wire.com.

Simon's guide to doing so is available on the Tripod (http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/ir1002700HGVbtV5editACSurl.htm) website
