Title: Alternative to a entry level macbook?
Post by: mrapoc on Apr 09, 2009, 11:58:12
I have set myself the challenge of finding a laptop, cheaper and just as good build quality as a macbook, same specs or better, to avoid paying the premium and getting one (very tempting)

I take it pretty much all makes/manufs are the same

Looking for a 13" screen, high quality, good resolution, decent graphics solution and 2gb at least.

For under £640

Where to start :P

Dell or HP I would have thought, Sam. Why 13" and not the more common 15?

Well 15" is definately ok, just looking for portability/weightwise

The sony FW looks HOT, but the price tag is steep for uk buyers (US price is so much more reasonable :()

Have you looked at the Apple Store refurbs? They're said to be better than new!

Check out this one:

You can get some Quidco on that too.

Cancom have some old model MacBooks in their clearance section.

Cancom (http://www.cancomuk.com/Home/Clearance/Previous-Models/Product/64061?Apple%20MacBook%20White%2013.3%22%202.1GHz%20Intel%20Core%202%20Duo%20%2f%201GB%20%2f%20120GB%20%2f%20SuperDrive%20%2f%20Airport%20Extreme%20%2f%20Bluetooth%20)

Nope, but then we wouldn't expect anything less from Apple. :)
