BT have announced the first 29 exchanges to get "Fibre to the Cabinet".
Story at El Reg (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/23/bt_fttc_exchanges/)
I don't fancy Luton, so I guess it's a move to Hemel. :)
I wouldn't advise moving to my neck of the woods. I need only to travel 2 miles in any direction and I'd be surfing the net at rocket speed. Was it something I said? :(
I need a long cable, the nearest to me is aobut 40 miles away
Nope, not me. :(

Looks like they are the nearest to me as well, Rik, it seems that the Midlands don't exist in BT's world, appears that there aren't any Exchanges listed in the Midlands at all. :shake:
Hmm. Chelmsford is only 20 miles down the road from me and its where I work as well. Maybe its time to cut down on the commuting and move!
Same as usual, nothing for those of us who really need it out in the countryside :rant2:

I agree, it's the same here as well, my exchange is a rural one with around 1500 residential subscribers and about 100 non residential. :shake:

The odd thing is that (a) MK has aluminium and would show a massive improvement and (b) we have a node here. :(

but it would still be aluminium between the cabinet and the home, no point in doing trials in non-typical locations - you will be the last exchange to be converted......... :running:
:hide2: :legpull:
:nana: ;D
I'm not holding my breath. We will probably have cars that fly before BT get round to doing my exchange.
Ah, you've seen Glenn's driving. :)
I am feeding the welsh paranoia of being treated as 2nd class citizens
The M.P.s and A.M.s for mid and north Wales have had emails pointing out that the pitifully few Welsh exchanges are all in south Wales and yet again we in the north are being left behind.
It's not just you, though, Alan. :(

At least another set of exchanges is being announced for upgrade in the autumn. :)
Chelmsford.. my step-mother lives in Chelmsford.. what a waste! She'll never want it.. she's only just changed over from dial up.
It's not fair, is it. They should have come here and asked where we thought they should install fibre. :)
dont think that would have been very productive as there would have been 8,000 posts saying
me ME me ME me ME me Me ME
:rant2:
It would have been good for the forum stats, Colin. ;D

Didn't realise that you collected forum stats Rik, is that a government directive with results to the Home Office. Has IDNetters been infiltrated
No, it's just that they're cheaper than stamps. ;)
What's going on in northeast London: Enfield, Chingford and Edmonton?
Richard
They are all on the list.
Much as I would like a super fast connection there is no way I would give up country living to get it. The old adage not having cake and eating it is so true.
I get neither. :'(
Heres a couple of cakes for you Rik
:food2: :food2:
Thanks, Steve. :thumb:
