Title: My speed is dropping
Post by: David on Mar 07, 2009, 14:16:27
After enjoying an solid speed for some time I have notice that my speed is slowly diminishing and the line profile is also wrong or at least different from what I enjoyed for some time

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 6400 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 4500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4166 kbps

This was todays test

This was last weeks

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 5888 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 5000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4666 kbps

5653.13
5453.33

Now its 4166

Why would the profile gone down ?
  ???

You've had the connection drop and reconnect at a slower speed, David.

Will it recover Rik? I recall my profile was stuck a while ago

The profile will recover if your line remains stable for 3-5 days. It might be worth running Routerstats to monitor the drops.

5.5 is the norm Sebby

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 6112 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 4500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4175 kbps

I realise its still faster than some but cant figure why it is steadily (seemingly dropping )

Looks like you've had a resync today as well. Have you changed anything recently?

I think as Rik said routerstats monitoring will give you an indication of any noise bursts interrupting you connection.

Is this since you've changed to the 2700, David?

I was on netgear but today reinstated the 2700 to see if this helps Simon

Well, you know I'm on expert, but you may need to regain some stability by leaving things be for a few days, then it may hopefully improve.  :)

The sync has certainly improved. As for stability, you'll have to see. :)

In the morning about 9.00am (Sunday) turn the power off to your router leave it for anout 5mins then turn it on again. This is usually the best time to do this and hopefully will turn in a higher DSL connection and if you hold that for a few days your profile will go up.  ;D
