Hi Guys
Looking to buy a BT 2700 router. The router has the first four numbers 0622 and is around 5 months old. Any advice re possible problems would be welcome.

I'm not too hot on serial numbers, Quandam, but is it single or dual SSID?

0622 is probably part of the SSID WEP number and tells us nothing, we need the serial number which is written above the 2 bar codes on the router label.

It is dual SSID and the first four numbers of the serial no tells us that it was 'released' in March 08. Hope this helps a little more? By the way it is new and unused. :-\
As Alan says, it looks like you're quoting part of the SSID. The serial numbers that are 'known' are listed on the link in reply#3.

If it was released in March 2008 then the first four characters of the 12 figure serial number is in the range 9908********/1008********/1108********/1208********/1308********.
These units will work fine, simply follow the guide (http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=8927.msg102417#msg102417)

Sounds more like September/October to me, Quandam, ie week 43.
I wouldn't worry about it if the third and fourth numbers are 08, the router will be exactly what is required.
ps Make sure the router has NOT had the firmware changed

About 10 minutes ago was successful with the winning bid for the router. Paid the fantastic price of £2.20 plus P&P.
However, will need your help in setting it up. Will definitely look at all the links already available before seeking your help.
Looking forward to the fun (hopefully) of receiving it and getting it up and running. Will keep you posted.

Nah! i won a brand new dual, sealed in the box for 99p + p&p of £5.00. Strangely it got "lost" in the post. Got a fake tracking number as well (as confirmed by Royal mail). One strike against seller :thumb:

I'm sure there won't be a problem, mine was just too cheap. It would have cost around £6.50 1st class signed for, so he just played the "lost in the post" game, not that unusual when things sell too cheap on Ebay.
I actually said to Liz "bet you i never see that router" and i never did.
If you paid with Paypal and it doesn't turn up, you'll get your money back in full. Its up to the seller to prove it was delivered, not you to prove it wasn't.

It can't harm to do it.
I think that you may have to just a pin into the factory reset will do it just in case ;)

If the box has the security seal in place there is little point in resetting the hub. If the seal is broken but all the components are in sealed plastic bags, again there is little point in resetting the hub. If however, the seal is broken and the plastic bags are open then there is reason to suspect that the hub has been used and is therefore not "brand new". In this case i would do a reset of the hub, just to clear any settings that may be in place.
Always best to start with a clean slate ;D

We recommend the reset so that you know you are starting from a known base, it only takes a few seconds.
Feel free to leave the reset out if you want, but if you need help configuring it later, we will ask you to do one then ;)
