Title: Solwise Homeplugs 85Mbps
Post by: somanyholes on Feb 04, 2009, 10:00:47
Hi All

I'm after a bit of advice. I'm considering buying a set of these at the moment, but after reading this guide http://www.gadgetoid.com/2008/09/24/solwise-homeplug-and-slinglink-put-to-the-test/ I'm not so sure. Can anybody who has one of these comment on what their ping response times are like over their lan? Also any ideas if these are full or half duplex?

Cheers

No experience, So, but I've seen a lot of favourable comments on them. Nothing specific about pings that I can remember, though.

Hi So,

I have three of the Amazon 'no name' homeplugs. They are the 85Mbps variety but are very similar to the ones you are looking at. There are my ping times:-

Pinging 192.168.0.60 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.60: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.0.60: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.0.60: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.0.60: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=255

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.60:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 2ms, Average = 2ms

I use them for streaming music with no problem at all.

Cheers,
