This is now free to download if you register. This edition only makes full on-demand backups, NO incrementals or schedules. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21843861-Free-Acronis-True-Image-10-Personal-Edition. I suggest that you read all the posts in the forum thread.
Full backups are all I ever make anyway. :) Nice find, Noreen. :thumb:
I understand that they are somewhat overloaded at the moment, Rik. ;D
Very nice find, would certainly be useful for me once in a while in addition to my real-time backup. :thumb:

That's what happens when everyone is off work due to snow. ;)
Is there any point in downloading but not installing this and keeping it on external storage as a sort of backup in case I lost or damaged my Home Edition TI 10 disk which we know is no longer obtainable?
It's also on PCW's cover disk, if you know anyone with a copy.
Cheers.
Depends if you need to register it first I suppose.
The PCW one, you need to get the registration key from www.acronis.co.uk/mag/ati10pe
sometimes these registrations are only available for a short period of time.

I managed to get a copy of that but when I put it in the drive to look at it the disk made a noise like a plane taking off and so I quickly removed it. Rik reckoned that it was a faulty disk.
I' m not really too bothered as I doubt that I'll really damage or lose my original disk.
It might be easier just to make a copy of the original, Noreen.
I'll try, Rik. ;D
The other thing, which I do, is copy the DVD/CD to my hard drive, and install from there. It's faster and, if you have plenty of space, it's a backup at the same time.
I've just made a copy of the disk, Rik, I'd thought that you couldn't do that.
They aren't usually protected, Noreen.
is version 10 the good one to have
Iirc, yes. Version 11 was a bit iffy, the new one (which we haven't heard much about) is 2009.

Many people think so, Baz. It worked flawlessly for me when I messed my computer up. Nearly had a heart attack watching it do its stuff though. ;D
It's a definite sweaty palm moment, isn't it. ;)
so does this version NOT do incrementals or schedules did we find out. The same offer is available in the latest Computeractive magazine.
Link available if any one wants it.
It seems likely that it only does full backups, Baz.
just registered to get a serial number for this and it says
To take advantage of all the features in , you can upgrade to for just £23,95
so I guess you are right Rik and Noreen
TBH, Baz, I only ever do full backups anyway.
I only do full TI 10 backups too. ;D
It just seems easier to me, Noreen. No messing when I need to restore, one file and I'm done.
I've posted this before but for the benefit of anyone trying this free version I'm posting it again. It applies to TI v9 and v10. It's worth printing out the how to restore part BEFORE you need it. ;D http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=168165 I used this guide to restore my computer.
Well worth repeating. :thumb:
