Title: Batch Numbering Files Randomly - Is there any software available?
Post by: Dopamine on Jan 21, 2009, 03:41:32
I have 10,000 consecutively numbered files that I would like to assign random file numbers/names to in one batch action.

Does anyone have any knowledge of or links to appropriate software?

Thanks. I've had a good look at that program but can't see any randomising function. I've spent ages trying dozens of different batch numbering programs but none has been able to assign random numbers. But, as is always the way, just when you give up and ask for help, you stumble upon the answer!

I found this tiny program today: Renamer at webmastersguide.com. http://www.webmastersguide.com/downloads.htm#renamer

It is very basic with few functions, but it does assign random file numbers. It's not particularly fast, but renamed 10,000 jpgs in around 3 minutes.

That's a lot faster than doing them manually, Dopamine. :) Thanks for posting the link.  :thumb:
