Are there any advantages/disadvantages to using Open DNS? :dunno:

have a look at this list (http://www.opendns.com/homenetwork/solutions) to see many of the advantages, many of us feel it is updated more quickly than others and is faster too.

I'm not aware of any disadvantages, Mick. Theoretically, the ISP's DNSs should be faster as it's in the same network, but in practice, I'd say OpenDNS is probably still faster.

If you register on OpenDNS, you get loads of options as well to customise your own network.

I used Open DNS for a while months ago, and I re-registered with them last night :thumb: Things do seem a bit quicker with them, pages rendering etc, so I'll stick with it. Thanks for your replies, you guys are a mine of information :thumb:

One thing you might like to do, Mick, is change the settings in Windows rather than your router. That way, you can change at will without causing a new PPP session.
