Which have given some advice on what to do with an old hard drive (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7816446.stm)
I've always been a fan of the smithereens method myself. :)

Totally effective isn't it ;)
Total, irreversible and fun. ;D
Make a shelf with it ;D ;D ;D ;D
I strip drive down to reveal the platter.
Destroy platter with rotating wire brush on drill.
Job done in minutes.
If I'm not mistaken, there will be some really good magnets in there as well :thumb:
Not after I've been at them with a 4lb club hammer, Mick. ;)
I like this quote:
Quote"Unless you're a spook or the kingpin of a criminal consortium, there's no need to go out and buy deleting software and no need to put a hammer through the damned thing," Mr Goodwins told the BBC.
"If you're that worried, get rid of it properly: burn it or put it in acid."
Personally, I'd run over it a couple of times with my minibus! ;D
Or just give them to the kids in the back. ;)
I vote for dunked in water and then smithereens, as Rik said, also its very satisfying ;D
