Title: Network Testing
Post by: psp83 on Dec 21, 2008, 18:08:10
Hi All.

Does anyone know where i can download some software to do network testing between 2 laptops?

We are moving into a new office and i have to go test the network out and repair any networking cables. I went to the new office with a lan tester on friday. just to see if the cables we're wired up correctly but i only took "straight through" cables and no "crossover" cables and i didnt get no lights showing with the straight throu cables. But when i go there tomorrow i want to do a proper test.

Thanks,
Paul

I'm not sure I understand exactly. Couldn't you just connect both ends to a switch and see if you get a connection light?

I want to test cable speed, response times etc.

We haven't installed the cables, the people before us did. I just need to make sure its all working etc and lucky we went to the new office on friday as the heating didn't work :eek4:
