One of my sites uses smf.
usually at this time of year i tend to embed a xmas song in the index.php code which autoplays and is hidden
however i'm getting a parse error line 24 or whatever, as i have completley forgotten what i did in previous years.
anyone know what the code should be
Simon might be able to help, Myst, they use embedded sound on their board at Pals.
The sounds on PC Pals are embedded in the individual members' "flash" (swf) sigs, and are not part of the forum coding, so sorry, but I can't help you with that, Myst. :(
I had a feeling that might be the case after I'd typed my response. I wonder if that's the only way to embed, I've never seen anything in the ACP.
TBH, I wouldn't consider it a particularly popular 'feature'. I don't know what sort of forums Myst is involved with, but if we were blasted with sound every time we logged in here, for example, I'm sure people would soon turn (and indeed, bugger) off. ;)
I've turned off viewing sigs on Pals for just that reason.
Shame we can't do that on here Rik, could get rid of all of that Christmas clutter. ;D :out: :duck: :duck:
You can, In. Profile > Look and layout preferences > check "don't show users' sigs". ;)
No worries, as to the forums which is within a tiny portal front end - they are our gaming forums and only about 30 peeps or so and they are used to my madness as this time - www.thornsqd.co.uk
the code used to be along the lines of
<embed src = bla bla bla bla /src.
Google brings up html code that i've tried and also converted that into php but still no avail
i used to have them when we used php nuke as the cms and they were quite straight forward.
I'll keep looking though.
Thanks

Thanks Rik, I was only joking.. ;D
I know, but I thought people might like to know anyway. :)
Do you not like Slade then, Rik?
It was OK as a college, but I went to LCP myself. ;D
