QuoteThe BBC has created a version of the iPlayer that works with both Mac and Linux computers.
The two systems, which have been able to stream BBC programmes via the iPlayer for a year, will now be able to handle downloads.
The BBC, working with Adobe, has developed the new version, known as BBC iPlayer Desktop.
This is great news for when I get a Mac. :P
Simon D has converted Tim to a Mac as well, so that's two more happy customers. :)
Blah, DRM. Oh how I hate thee. I'll stick to the Flash-based player thanks :)
DRM is piracy, imo. :)

IMO it's worse than that, it's prevention of lawful use. It's also a lack of trust from content providers, but that's a seperate issue, really.
Just like the damned handbag stealing trailer we are forced to sit through on a legitimately purchased DVD.
And the needless copy protection on games. It's all been proved as useless, since people that pirate things most likely wouldn't buy them regardless.
I like this one:

You were right, Danni. There literally is an XKCD comic for everything :P
Have you met my mother-in-law? :o
I shall point you at http://xkcd.com/275/ for that one, Rik ;)
A feeling I remember well. ;D
Not for me so much (for me that's a good thing, I'm likely to blurt it out)
You are unlikely to ever meet my mother. Be glad of that :P
Well it's one less opportunity to mess up meeting someone, so I am glad indeed ;)
It gets easier with practice, John. I'm quite expert by now.
