Title: Posting problem
Post by: vitriol on Dec 16, 2008, 17:28:07
Whenever I try to post a reply, when I hit the post button, nothing happens.  In the information bar at the bottom it says

waiting for www.idnetters.co.uk

I just replied to the "Nailed" topic and waited and waited, nothing happens at all.  I got back into the main forum via one of the links and find that my post has magically appeared.

Anyone?

It's fine here, Vit. I've seen the message very rarely, maybe once a month... It usually suggests the server is busy, or your connection is.

I'm only browsing idnetters.....no music streaming, updating etc...

See how long this one takes posting at 17:38

No apparent problem from here.

Well that one went through quite quickly, about 10 seconds, but before it sat for a minute easily.  Might mess about with my DNS server settings.

Try OpenDNS if you're using IDNet, or reverse the primary and secondary - that can give faster results.

I noticed this last night, but put it down to a symptom of the outages.  It's not unheard of, and happens occasionally on all forums I visit.  Sudden traffic surge, perhaps?

I haven't noticed any problems with the site... DNS problems, maybe? I'm using OpenDNS myself.
